Analytics Engineer
Welcome to Alf!
Hi there! We are Alf – a newly formed tech company within Länsförsäkringar Alliance. With a client base of more than 1,8 million households, Länsförsäkringar is one of Sweden’s biggest financial groups. Alf is on a mission to create a secure and sustainable way of living by adding cutting-edge IoT tech to 200+ years of experience from helping customers taking care of their homes.
About the job.
As our first Analytics Engineer, you’ll be contributing across multiple teams. Your primary focus will be designing and implementing data models for Alf's data platform.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing data models in our cloud-based data platform, which underpins essential use cases such as BI reporting, product analytics, and customer-facing analytics.
- Supporting development teams to implement analytics-ready data points in products.
- Enabling self-service analytics by maintaining and optimizing the semantic layer.
- Building reports and dashboards to track key business metrics.
In this early-stage role, you’ll be our first Analytics engineer, working alongside talented individuals and receiving significant support from Head of Data & Analytics. Together, we’re on a mission to transform the insurance industry—we need to capture and measure this transformation through data.
About you.
You have an academic background in fields like computer engineering, mathematics, or a similar area and have developed your skills as an analytics engineer, data engineer, or data analyst. You’re proficient in SQL and dbt and have preferably some experience working with cloud-based data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, or similar services (Azure Databricks is a plus, but not required). Solid skills in programming with Python and familiarity with orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow is also an advantage.
Key strengths include:
- Excellent communication skills, enabling you to act as a bridge between tech and product teams for designing analytics solutions.
- A passion for driving analytics use cases from start to finish, from identifying needs to creating effective visualizations.
- Attention to detail, ensuring data models are robust, accurate, and impactful.
- Above all, you’re passionate about understanding our business and products, bringing a data-driven mindset to help Alf make informed decisions and succeed.
Additional skills, such as knowledge of infrastructure-as-code frameworks like Terraform and experience with tools like Google Analytics for tracking app and web performance, are also a bonus.
